What I do
"Work
is not what it was, inside or outside the organization. The
paradox of time combines with the changing nature of work,
to force us to rethink what we mean by the whole idea of work
and time - when we work, where we work, how we work and why
we work".

For
me, the greatest liberation provided by
the technology of e-Business is the freedom to be myself
and to make intelligent choices about how I work.
In
particular, I can choose my work partners from around the
world - associates, clients and suppliers. Since I operate
in no structure other than my own network of business partners,
quality of relationships becomes a key to my own personal
success. This means that each relationship is built upon trust
and mutual interdependence.
My
network is made up of collaborators - mostly portfolio workers
whose roles can be totally interchangeable. At one moment
a client, at another a supplier or associate. Most of these
relationships are conducted online. The network has potential
value for all the participants, in particular when being brought
in to support the needs of start-up companies.
In
order to minimize my risks and to ensure continuity of work,
I try to manage my portfolio by having at any one time 30
possible leads and 6 active clients.
My
primary goal with each client is to develop a relationship
of trust. This is a major reward in itself. Financially, I
need to be able to generate sufficient fees to be able to
cover my expenses, together with the possibility of sharing
in my client's success, mostly through a small equity
stake in the business or similar mechanism.
